Festival overview
Courant3D returns to Angoulême, France, for its 14th edition from 6 to 11 October 2026. The festival’s call for entries covers stereoscopic cinema and spatial video alongside virtual reality, augmented reality, vertical film, artificial-intelligence-assisted production, dome work, and the festival’s VBeat format.

Competition sections
3D, stereoscopic, and spatial video
Producers and directors can submit 3D, stereoscopic, and spatial-video short films to the international competition. Fiction, animation, documentary, experimental work, and other forms are accepted, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
Virtual reality
The VR competition accepts 3D 360° VR films and experiences. All genres are accepted, and submitted works must not exceed 30 minutes.
Vertical film
The vertical-format competition is open to fiction, animation, documentary, experimental work, experiences, and other genres. Entries must not exceed 30 minutes.
Augmented reality
Augmented-reality experiences may be entered by submitting a teaser through ShortFilmDepot. The teaser is limited to 30 minutes.
Artificial intelligence
This section accepts films that used one or more artificial-intelligence tools in screenwriting or audiovisual production. All genres are accepted, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
VBeat
VBeat is defined by the festival as an original musical composition combined with animation. Entries may come from individuals, companies, schools, institutions, or agencies.
The published technical requirements include:
- original music incorporating artificial-intelligence elements
- PCM audio at a minimum of 24-bit/48 kHz
- animation rendered at 30 frames per second
- HD landscape at 1920 × 1080, square at 1920 × 1920, vertical at 1080 × 1920, or a stereoscopic format
- a maximum duration of 10 minutes
Dome
Individuals and organizations that have produced or co-produced a film for a dome can submit a teaser through ShortFilmDepot. All genres are accepted, and the teaser is limited to 30 minutes.
