A festival dedicated to stereoscopic cinema
The 3D Korea International Film Festival (3D KIFF) created a place for filmmakers, stereographers, researchers, and audiences to encounter stereoscopic work as cinema—not simply as a technical demonstration. Its programmes brought artistic choices and production craft together, presenting 3D films while encouraging discussion of the cameras, workflows, display systems, and viewing conditions behind them.
The restored website preserves the festival as a working historical resource. Its archive records editions from 2010 through 2017, while the photographic galleries reach from 2009 to the 2022 special edition. Programme information, press material, submission guidance, awards, and photographs remain available in English and Korean.
Cinema-scale stereoscopic presentation
The photographs preserved in the 2014 gallery show 3D KIFF operating at full cinema scale. A large auditorium, theatrical screen, and audience equipped with stereoscopic glasses made presentation quality part of the festival itself. The setting allowed films to be judged under shared viewing conditions rather than through individual demonstrations or small displays.
Recognizing excellence in 3D
The festival’s awards were designed to recognize both artistic achievement and the distinctive craft of stereoscopic production. Alongside grand prizes and best-picture awards for features and shorts, the programme included jury, special, technical, and technology awards. Later categories extended that attention to VR and AR work.

The final Seoul edition in 2022
The final Seoul edition in 2022 returned the festival to a direct encounter between emerging filmmakers, students, organizers, and stereoscopic work. Awards were presented beside the programme posters, closing the active festival period with the same combination of screening, technical exchange, and community that had shaped the earlier editions.
Why preserve the archive?
Specialized festivals often hold knowledge that is difficult to reconstruct after their websites disappear: which films circulated, how new production methods entered practice, and who formed the community around them. Restoring 3D KIFF keeps that record accessible and connects an earlier period of digital stereoscopic cinema to current work in VR180, immersive video, and spatial display.
